The Inauguration Meeting of the Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Doctoral Network "MultiScale phenomena in Radiation Damage" (MS-RADAM) took place on 4 September 2026 at Carl von Ossietzky University in Oldenburg, Germany. The meeting brought together the MS-RADAM project partners, supervisors and all 14 Doctoral Candidates (DCs) recruited within the network. A program of the meeting can be found here.
The meeting opened with a welcome by Andrey Solov'yov, MS-RADAM DN Coordinator, who presented an overview of the MS-RADAM Doctoral Network, highlighting the scientific challenges addressed by the project, its overall scientific vision and main objectives, the research work packages and individual DC projects, as well as the expected scientific and wider impact of the network.
The participants also discussed the implementation of the MS-RADAM research and training programme, including the overall project and training timeline, network-wide training events, secondments and intersectoral exposure, career development planning, and communication, dissemination and outreach activities.
An important part of the meeting was dedicated to the introduction of the 14 MS-RADAM Doctoral Candidates (DCs). Each DC presented their academic and professional background, individual research project, principal research approach and expected links with other projects within the network. These presentations provided an opportunity for the DCs, supervisors and project partners to become acquainted with the different research directions pursued within MS-RADAM and to identify potential areas for future scientific collaboration. The inauguration meeting marked an important milestone for MS-RADAM as the recruited Doctoral Candidates began their research and training activities within an international, interdisciplinary and intersectoral network. During the project, the DCs will benefit from network-wide scientific and complementary skills training as well as research secondments at partner institutions.
The inauguration meeting was followed by the 1st MS-RADAM Training School, providing the Doctoral Candidates with training in core scientific skills as well as complementary and communication skills.
