The PEARL Project Workshop and the Mid-Term Review Meeting will be held at the Università degli Studi di Ferrara (Ferrara, Italy) during October 23-25, 2017. These events will be followed on October 26-27 with the project-related training course on Multiscale Computational Methods for Complex Molecular Systems. The mid-term review meeting will focus on the evaluation of the overall progress of the project (the work carried out within the work packages, the milestones and deliverables, the secondments executed), on the project management, dissemination/outreach activities, impact (scientific, technical, social, commercial, environmental) as well as on the discussion of the questions concerning the project. The meeting follow-up training course aims at exploring physical models and computational approaches used for the simulations of Meso-Bio-Nano (MBN) systems and the investigation of their structure and dynamics at the atomic level of detail. The course is based on practical exercises with the latest release of the universal computational package MBN Explorer and MBN Studio - a special graphical user interface and multitask toolkit for MBN Explorer. A tentative program and detailed information on the workshop and the mid-term review meeting can be found here.

A trilateral mini-workshop between the teams of MBN Research Center, University of Mainz and Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University was held on June 13-14, 2017. The meeting hosted by Professor Vadim K. Ivanov took place at the Department of Experimental Physics of the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. Professor Hartmut Backe (Uni Mainz) gave a public lecture on electron channeling experiments at the Mainz Microtron MAMI and a scientific presentation on radiation physics experiments conducted at MAMI. Professor Andrei V. Korol (MBN-RC) gave a talk on the ongoing and planned theoretical studies of channeling by means of MBN Explorer software package. There was given also a progress report by Mr. Kirill Agap’ev, an undergraduate student of SPbPU, on modeling of ultrarelativistic particles’ channeling in a diamond crystal. After the discussion of experimental and theoretical results, there were established plans for further collaboration between the research groups involved in the H2020-RISE-PEARL project.

The Fourth International Conference "Dynamics of Systems on the Nanoscale" (DySoN 2016) will be held in Bad Ems, Germany during October 3-7, 2016 at the historical Häcker's Grand Hotel. The Conference will be followed on October 8-9 with the comprehensive training course on multiscale modelling of Meso-Bio-Nano (MBN) systems, their structure and dynamics with MBN Explorer and MBN Studio – the powerful and universal software being developed by MBN Research Center in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. The mini-workshop “Periodically bent crystals for crystalline undulators” held within the PEARL project will be linked to DySoN 2016 as well as the Management Board Meeting of the PEARL project. More information on DySoN 2016 can be found here.
